Chateau Gavaudun

It is just a 10 min drive from Le Seguinet and situated in the valley of Gavaudun, perched on an outcrop of rocks overlooking and guarding the valley. This 11th century castle has a very high tower (donjon).

There’s not much left of the ruins but what’s there will fascinate anyone who enjoys ruined castles and the history of this part of France. The climb up to the top is not for the faint hearted, it involves some serious climbing up very basic spiral steps hewn into the rock. You will be rewarded with spectacular views from the top.

They also organise a treasure hunt for children. There is a great marked 5km walk around it. After all this exercise you can enjoy refreshments in The Cafe at the bottom of the castle.
